GARDEN OF PRAYER Youth Center On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Maloney family, Garden of Prayer Youth Center would like to thank Peoples Bank of Kankakee County for serving as the platinum sponsor of our gala celebrating 47 years of service to children and families. Other sponsors included Hove Nissan, Riverside Medical Center, and Hoekstra Trucking. This event, entitled "Just Imagine", was held at the Majestic Theater on October 4th. There were 215 guests attending. The night featured live entertainment and interactive engagement. For their contributions to advancing the lives of children and families, Garden of Prayer Youth Center presented awards and recognition to Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis, County Coroner Bob Gessner, Deputy Chief Donell Austin, State Representative Nick Smith, Dr. Genevra Walters, Kankakee Federation of Labor, Zonta Club of Kankakee, Pastor Sam Rover of Christ Deliverance Church of Pembroke, and DCFS Chief of Staff Jacquelyn Dortch. Congressman Jonathan Jackson gave a passionate and stirring speech as the keynote speaker. Garden of Prayer Youth Center also used this occasion to introduce their capital campaign and share plans to build a small campus that will include four homes, an education and training center, and functioning farm for disadvantaged youth. The agency recently received a donation of 22 acres for the purposes of expanding their placement programs.
